14 day Lodge Safari from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls: Embark on your intimate African Experience on a journey through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe while enjoying the comfort of your lodges.

Make this journey of discovering remarkable cultures during nature walks & a bushman experience in the Kalahari. Feel the excitement when getting close to game on various game walks in the Greater Kruger area & Zambezi National Park. Additional highlights include the possibilities to see nocturnal animals during a night drive in the Kwhai area and the opportunity to see the world-famous Victoria Falls.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Johannesburg, South Africa
On arrival into OR Tambo International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure.

Accommodation: The Airport Grand Hotel or similar (rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, restaurant & bar)

Day 2 & 3: Johannesburg to Karongwe Private Game Reserve, South Africa
This morning we depart Johannesburg, the City of Gold, and make our way up through Mpumalanga to our camp based in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Over the following two days you will be led by experienced and professional guides on walking safaris through this wildlife rich area in the hopes of spotting lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo as well as hyena, hippo, giraffe, zebra and a whole host of other game. In addition game drives and night drives are also offered allowing you to participate in a full spectrum of safari activities. [BLD, BLD]

Accommodation: Chisomo Safari Camp or similar (tented chalet with en-suite bath-rooms, splash pool, dinner lapa and bar)

Day 4: Karongwe Private Game Reserve to Stevensford Game Reserve, Botswana
Today we leave South Africa and cross the border into the easternmost corner of Botswana and the Tuli Block. Stevensford Game Reserve is a 3500 ha private nature conservancy and working game farm, set on the banks of the Limpopo River. We get to stretch our legs on an afternoon guided walk. Bush walks provide the perfect opportunity to experience Africa at grass level, taking in the sounds, smells and sights of the bush at a much slower pace. [BLD]

Day 5: Stevensford Game Reserve, Tuli Block to Nata, Botswana
We continue our journey through Botswana, to Nata Lodge, situated on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans. This area incorporates a multitude of salt pans and vast grass plains dotted by palm islands and forms the Great Makgadikgadi which comprise the largest area of salt pans in the world covering some 37 000 sq. km in overall extent. It is the last vestige of Africa’s largest inland sea and exudes an atmosphere of antiquity and mystery. [BLD]

Day 6: Nata to Maun, Botswana
After breakfast we head off for Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Here you have the opportunity to stock up on supplies, relax at the pool of our lodge located on the banks of the Thamalakane River, or if you are keen for some excitement why not book a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta. Day 7 & 8: Maun to the Central Kalahari Desert, Botswana
We proceed to the heart of Botswana, the central Kalahari Desert, where once again we enjoy a two night stay. We will be taken to the hide to watch the game, embark on a Bushman Walk and enjoy stargazing. Game drives are optional and for own account. [BLD, BLD]

Accommodation: Dinaka Lodge or similar (permanent tents with en-suite open air bathrooms, swimming pool, dining & bar area)

Day 9: Central Kalahari to Khwai River, Botswana
Returning back via Maun, a short drive takes us to the mokoro station. From here, we will float in dug-out canoes through the thick vegetation of the Okavango Delta discovering a variety of birds and wildlife. Unlike other deltas, it flows into the Kalahari Desert without ever reaching the coast. After this spectacular excursion, we make our way to our camp, which is situated in close proximity to the famous Khwai River. After settling in, we will enjoy dinner under the African stars. [BLD]

Day 10: Khwai River, Botswana
Today we spend game driving in the Khwai area. In our open 4x4 vehicle we will explore the Khwai River region on a full day game drive hopefully spotting a variety of game that frequent this region. After dinner your guide will take you on a night drive, and you will hopefully be able to spot some rare nocturnal animals. [BLD]

Days 11 & 12: Chobe, Botswana
As we have a long driving day ahead of us, an early start takes us through the game parks of Botswana and onto Kasane, the gateway to the Chobe National Park. Our lodge has an impeccable location on the Chobe River and the thatched accommodation is set among lush gardens thriving with prolific wildlife such as fish eagle, warthog, squirrel, mongoose, and vervet monkeys. Start your morning of Day 12 with a hopefully spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park. You will return to the lodge for lunch, where you can relax until our boat cruise on the Chobe River in the afternoon. Here we can watch elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds, making for excellent up close photo opportunities. [BLD, BD]
 
Accommodation: Chobe Marina Lodge or similar (rooms with en-suite bath-rooms, swimming pool, dining & bar area)

Day 13: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
A short drive takes us to the town of Victoria Falls, and our accommodation for the last night of our safari, where we embark on a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, known as “Mosi-Oa-Tunya” (the smoke that thunders). The rest of the day is yours at leisure to partake in one of the numerous activities available, to do some last minute curio shopping, or simply relax at the lodge. [B]

Accommodation: A’Zambezi River Lodge, Ilala Lodge or similar (rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant)

Day 14: End of Tour
Our safari ends after breakfast. You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight. We hope to welcome you again one day on another of our African adventures. [B]

Extra information

Insurance
It is compulsory for all travelers to have insurance covering their personal requirements, medical expenses and personal possessions. This is to be arranged before leaving your home country. SA Tours and Safaris can assist you with your travel insurance, please enquire with our consultants for further information.

Pre and Post Tour Arrangements:
Pre and post tour accommodation and transfers can be arranged on request.

Transport:
Jenman Safaris uses fully equipped Toyota Landcruiser or 12-seater 4x4 Isuzu or other appropriate vehicles with comfortable seating, windows for game viewing and a music system.  An off-road trailer is fitted with a field kitchen.  All luggage is carried on the vehicle or trailer roof racks to ensure maximum comfort in the vehicle.

Spending money:
Clients are advised to bring enough money to cover the purchase of curios, tips, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, water and additional entertainment. US Dollars, Pound Sterling and Botswana Pula are the most practical and convenient currencies.

Meals:
All meals are organized by the guide and are prepared by him/her with the help of the group. All clients booked on our camping safaris, half-accommodated or fully accommodated safaris will enjoy the same wholesome meals. These meals will be enjoyed together in the evening, often around a camp fire. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

First Aid:
Our guides are trained in basic first aid and the vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive medical aid kit.  Preventative Malaria medication should be taken before the trip and throughout its duration. It is advisable to consult a doctor prior to departure.

Luggage:
Maximum baggage allowance: 12 kg. Jenman Safaris stipulates this luggage allowance, as an overloaded vehicle is a danger to both the clients and the guide. This does not include photographic equipment and a small daypack. Please bring a backpack or soft barrel bag, not a suitcase. Don't bring too much clothing, as there are washing opportunities along the way. Please adhere to the allowance specified as space for luggage is limited.
